About

The arrangement of the flowering heads (which have white ray flowers) and the coarse spreading hairs born on the stem and narrow leaves are distinctive of this species (along with its ecology and rhizomatous growth habit). A rhizomatous herb common to the sagebrush steppe and in contrast to Symphyotrichum ascendens has a predilection to a more stable environment including undisturbed sagebrush steppe.
