Big Bog
Big Bog is the largest remaining bog in the lower 48 states.
Bog Boardwalk
The bog boardwalk is so unique and unforgettable it is worth planning an entire northern Minnesota trip around. Interpretive signs along the walk describe the birds, mammals, and plants found in the bog. A seating area at the end of the boardwalk is a good spot for a lunch break.
Photography
Though only one mile long, visitors interested in photographing plants in the bog may want to schedule a half day for this feature alone. Early summer is the best time of year to photograph bog plants in bloom. Visit in late May to see rose pogonia, in June to see showy lady’s slipper and yellow lady’s slipper.
