Red Lake Peatland SNA lies within the the Main Unit of the largest wildlife management area in Minnesota, the 321,772 acre Red Lake WMA.

Part of this area was designated a National Natural Landmark, Upper Red Lake Peatland, in 1965.

Hiking Trails

 
 

There are no maintained trails. The East Unit can be viewed from the Highway 72 and the parking area. The easiest access to the interior of the East Unit is via a winter trail. Unfortunately, most winter trails are impassible in the summer.
