About

Apr 2, 2020

Hike through towering old-growth red and white pines on a 0.3-mile wide sandbar separating the Superior Bay from Lake Superior. Leaving the forest you’ll stand on the dunes and then the beach looking out across the big lake! This old forest growing on a young sandbar (geologically speaking) is pretty unique.

About

Published on Nov 27, 2012

This beach is on Minnesota Point that includes an old-growth pine forest. This is a State designated Scientific Natural Area SNA and the nearby Sky Harbor Airport has proposed removing trees citing safety reasons and have considered possibly moving the airport runway. June of 2012 saw a record amount of rainfall when 10" fell creating swollen streams and rivers uprooting trees and changing the area landscape the debris pictured here is from that flooding. The large pipe and vent cap are top secret and I'm unable to reveal any details due to sworn testimony and orders from a high ranking official. Produced and Edited by me, using a Sony camera. Soundtrack courtesy of Youtube.
