(Subtribe Agrothereutina)
Overview • Description • Distribution • Taxonomy
Agrothereutina is a subtribe of Cryptini, a large Ichneumonid wasps. There are 11 Agrothereutina genera worldwide, 59 species in 8 genera in North America north of Mexico, and at least 7 species in 7 genera in Minnesota.
No descriptive information can be found on this subtribe. In fact, little to no descriptive information can be found on any subtribe or tribe in this or any subfamily of ichneumonid wasps (Family Ichneumonidae). Identification below the level of subfamily can sometimes be made by comparing a photo with those curated by experts on BugGuide.net. However, the result obtained is often inconclusive.
Any identification based solely on comparing images should be treated as suspect unless an expert has said there are no lookalikes for the species or group in question.
