Description

Lesser appleworm moth is a small leafroller moth. It occurs across North America. It is uncommon in Minnesota.

The forewing is slightly curved and narrower at the base, giving the moth a tapered appearance. It is light brown with extensive dark brown mottling that sometimes makes it appear mostly dark brown. There are two broad, oblique, pale bands in the median area that, when paired with the opposite wing, form an inverted V and an arc. There is a band of brownish-yellow scales in the subterminal area immediately preceding a black terminal line. There are three short, silvery, oblique lines (stria) on the outer (costal) margin near the wing tip.
