Description |
Adult Scudder’s bush katydids have very long legs and narrow straight wings. On nymphs, the antennae have black and white bands, and there is a small pointed projection between the antennae bases. |

Katydid on Milkweed... It was on a milkweed out at Twin Valley Prairie SNA 7-24-23. It would feed on the flower part then just kind of sit there. An ant came along and eventually got closer to the katydid and the katydid moved away from it.

It’s kind of a strange looking creature but pretty harmless. Reminds me of some kind of grasshopper. The 2 long whiskers or antenna (whatever they are called) reminds me of on a lobster or crawfish. Has interesting eyes. |

The ant wasn’t aggressive toward it or anything. | Side view Scudder's Bush Katydid nymph... It seemed to eat the tips off the milkweed blossoms. All the images were from video I filmed of it doing what it does naturally. It had interesting mouth parts moving while feeding I noticed. Kind of a strange looking creature, but I found it interesting. |
