Scudder’s bush katydid
(Scudderia spp.)
| Overview | Scudderia is a genus of broad-winged katydids. They occur throughout North America from southern Canada to southern Mexico. There are at least 21 species worldwide, 8 species in North America north of Mexico, and 5 species in Minnesota. They are found in deciduous forests, woodlands, and shrublands. Nymphs feed mostly on flowers. Adults feed on the leaves of a variety of plants, especially deciduous woody plants. |

| Identification | Adult Scudder’s bush katydids have very long legs and narrow straight wings. On nymphs, the antennae have black and white bands, and have a small pointed projection between the antennae bases. |
