The prairie is cut in half by a barbed wire fence. Based on the presence of dried cow patties, the prairie on the right has been grazed recently, the one on the left has not.

Antelope Valley SNA
About

An especially unique feature of Antelope Valley SNA is mineral salt at the soil surface that supports a wet saline prairie. Very few prairies of this type occur in Minnesota and this is the first and only one protected on an SNA. A complex of wet and mesic prairies covers much of the rest of this site.
