Scientific and Natural Areas (SNAs) are sites that have been selected to preserve and perpetuate rare species or other features in Minnesota. They are managed and in most cases owned by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
There are currently (3/4/2020) 168 SNAs in the state. All but a handful are open to the public. The newest two are Dinner Creek SNA and Mississippi Oxbow SNA. They were both designated on July 30, 2018.
